Bulleen Park & Ride Update
Designs for the new Bulleen Park & Ride have been approved and a builder has been appointed.
Bulleen Park and ride will be a premium bus station along the future Eastern Freeway busway, with 370 car parks, making it easier for people to use the fast, frequent and reliable bus services to and from the city.
Buses that use the Eastern Freeway are already among the busiest in Melbourne. North East Link will allow buses to travel uninterrupted up to 100km/h along the dedicated busway cutting commute times by up to 30 per cent.
The park and ride will be located on the east side of Thompsons Road and will double the number of car parking spaces for rapid freeway bus services.
The new Park and Ride will include 5,000 square metres of landscaped green roof, pick-up/drop-off parking bays, myki machines and toilets, Parkiteer cycling cages, and walking and cycling paths connecting with Koonung Creek Trail and Thompsons Road. Site set-up will kick off soon with construction beginning mid-year.
Bulleen Park & Ride will be open four years earlier than planned, ready for people to use before Doncaster Park & Ride is closed for upgrades.
Bulleen Park & Ride will open late 2022, with North East Link and the dedicated busway opening in late 2027.

Details of Victoria’s Container Deposit Scheme Announced
Minister for the Environment, Lily D’Ambrosio has announced the final design of the Andrews Labor Government’s new container deposit scheme (CDS) which is set to start in 2023. People will be able to return cans, bottles and cartons at various locations including shopping centres, drive through collection depots, mobile drop off points for events and community festivals.
The design will split responsibilities for running the scheme between a scheme coordinator and network operators. This model was chosen following detailed analysis of schemes operating internationally and interstate and is the model supported by 85 percent of participants during public consultations.
This scheme will create new economic opportunities and jobs, while also benefitting charity, community and sports groups in addition to reducing Victoria’s litter by up to half.
