The Victorian Government has awarded a Local Sport Infrastructure Grant to the Richard Silcock Sportsfield, providing $125,000 in funding to improve lighting of the northern pitch.
The funding boost will allow for around 30 additional hours a week of training opportunities for youth and community sports teams.
Sonja Terpstra MP, Member for Eastern Metropolitan Region is pleased to see this kind of support for local sports and recreation in the area, and the roll-on benefits it will have on community and youth participation in sports.
The upgrade will directly benefit clubs like the Croydon Ranges Football Club, seeing them provide more training and practice time on the field, helping to foster community among participants and their families.
The project is one of 100 to benefit from more than $30 million via the Victorian Government’s Local Sports Infrastructure Fund.
This investment also recognises the overwhelming demand for shovel-ready community sports infrastructure across Victoria and includes additional funding provided through the Community Sports Infrastructure Stimulus Program.
Ms. Terpstra acknowledges the work of Maroondah Council and for its commitment and financial contribution to the project.
