Coal-fired power stations, industrial emissions, vehicles and transport pollution, wood heaters for domestic heating, bushfires and planned burns all damage the air we breathe.
The Legislative Council Environment and Planning Committee has made 35 recommendations to government with the aim of helping us all breathe a little easier. Read the report at vicparl.news/3FoEddt
Recommendations include creating clean air zones around schools and childcare centres, phasing out wood fired heaters and further promoting the uptake of electric vehicles.
The health impacts, particularly for younger children, can have lifelong consequences.
The government has six months to respond to the report.
