More outdoor fun in Doncaster East

Kids and kids at heart can look forward to ramping up the fun at Doncaster East’s newest playspace, outdoor court and fitness hub thanks to support from the Allan Labor Government.

Member for North-Eastern Metropolitan Sonja Terpstra yesterday joined Manningham City Mayor, Cr Carli Lange to visit the new Cat Jump Park facilities, made possible by a more than $248,000 investment from the Victorian Government’s Local Sports Infrastructure Fund.

With more and more families wanting to get active in Manningham, the new areas feature a combination of sport and play elements catering for all ages and abilities.

A rope play, junior play unit and swings make up the new play area that’s complemented by nearby paths.

Upgrades also delivered 3 new outdoor fitness stations, and the installation of a new multi-use court line marked for basketball, netball and tennis.

Together they make a perfect spot for the community to come together to play, get fit, stay active or re-energise.

The Victorian Budget 2023-24 is providing more than $213 million to deliver and improve community sports infrastructure and support initiatives that boost participation and inclusion in local sports clubs and organisations.

This brings the Government’s investment into community sport and active recreation infrastructure to more than $1.9 billion over the past decade.

From new playspaces to sports pavilions, investments like these provide high-quality and accessible facilities that allow Victorians to reap the benefits of sport and active recreation participation.

They are also about creating jobs, stimulating local economies and improving the health, wellbeing, and social outcomes for Victorian communities.

Sonja Terpstra MP acknowledged the Manningham City Council for its more than $276,000 financial contribution and commitment to delivering the project.
