Options paper for Retirement Villages Act released

I was pleased to visit the Oak Hill Retirement Village in Glen Waverley with Matt Fregon MP and John Kennedy MP to discuss the Options Paper on the Retirement Villages Act 1986 review.

The Options Paper is part of the next step in the process of reviewing the Retirement Villages Act 1986. The review aims to recognise the importance retirement villages play in the Victorian community.

It is essential that all Victorians, including older Victorians, can make informed choices when choosing where and how they would like to live.
I know many constituents in the Eastern Metropolitan Region are interested in the review of this Act. Constituents have raised concerns with me about the complexity of contracts, complex legal arrangements and how fees are levied and charged and what happens to your unit if you own it when you pass away. One of the options is to also look at the creation of an industry Ombudsman to help resolve disputes.
