Solar Panels installed at Yarra Road Primary School

Fantastic to be out at Yarra Road Primary School today to cut the ribbon on their newly installed solar panels and inverter!

The Greener Government School Buildings Program is helping many schools, just like Yarra Road get solar panels on their rooftops.

The Victorian Government is committed to achieving net zero carbon emissions by 2050, and programs like this will help us get there.
The program has allocated $8.8million to install solar panels at 171 Victorian Schools since 2018/2019. The Greener School Building pilot program has achieved:
  • 1,230 megawatts of electricity – an equivalent to powering 100 houses for a year;
  • Reduced C02 emissions by more than 1,350 tonnes – equivalent to taking 188 cars off the road for a year;
  • Saved schools over $270,000 on electricity bills, and average of almost $6,500 per school.
I can’t wait to see the ongoing results for the entire program!
Congratulations to Yarra Road Primary for your commitment to sustainable living and for helping the Victorian Government get on with the job of reaching net zero emissions by 2050.
