A new 2-room modular building is now offering more enrolments for the local community and dedicated spaces for 3- and 4-year-old kinder groups thanks to the Allan Labor Government.
Member for North-Eastern Metro Region, Sonja Terpstra today officially opened the $1.4 million upgraded facilities which allow for an additional 22 additional kindergarten places as well as a new bathroom and kitchen, and increased size of the outdoor play space for the children.
Tunstall Square Kindergarten received $744,700 from the 2021-22 Building Blocks Capacity Building Grants which are aimed at helping increase capacity through new or expanded kindergartens in areas with higher demand.
The Victorian Government is reforming early learning – making it bigger, better and fairer. Through new partnerships and record investment, all Victorian children can now get 2 years of free kinder, while we’re also offering additional hours of funded kinder for 3-year-olds and transitioning our 4-year-olds into ‘pre-prep’, doubling play-based learning for every 4-year-old child in Victoria to 30 hours a week.
Evidence shows that 2 years are better than one when it comes to early learning. Children who start kinder at the age of 3, gain academic and social benefits that last into their school years and beyond. To support these reforms, we are building, modernising and expanding kindergartens across the state.
Through the Allan Labor Government’s nation-leading $14 billion Best Start, Best Life reforms, we are transforming early childhood education to help children thrive, save families money and support parents – especially women – to return to work or study.
